St Helens assistant coach Kieron Purtill has signed a new two-year deal with the club.

Purtill joined Saints in 2008 under Daniel Anderson’s stewardship, and continued his service under Mick Potter. He will now serve under a third coach, with Royce Simmons taking over for next season.

“We’re delighted that Kieron agreed to stay at the Saints,” Saints Chief Executive Tony Colquitt said. “He is developing into a first class coach and will continue to progress under Royce Simmons next season too.

“He is very much an integral member of the team and we look forward to having him on board for the next two seasons.”

Purtill had previously worked at Huddersfield, where he had a spell as joint head coach.

Kieron added: “The next couple of years will be exciting for everyone involved in the Club.

“I am excited about the prospect of working and learning from someone with the experience of Royce Simmons.

“Coupled with our strong recruitment for next season and the prospect of being involved in the transition to the new stadium, the offer was very hard to turn down.”
