Two in, two out at Rochdale

Rochdale have completed the signings of Adam Lawton and Daley Williams but Declan Gregory and Joe Ryan have left the club with immediate effect.

Forward Lawton returns to the Hornets on a one-month loan deal from Salford, while utility-back Williams has signed permanent terms with Rochdale for the rest of the 2019 season.

Hooker Gregory and forward Ryan have left Rochdale by mutual consent after finding game time hard to come by in 2019 and will seek opportunities elsewhere.

Rochdale head coach Matt Calland commented: “Daley is a big, strong centre. He will bring strike to our edges and much needed experience out wide.

“Adam Lawton has a really big frame. He stands at 6ft 7 and is a real handful for defenders with the ball in hand. He will add much needed size to our pack.”

On the departures of Gregory and Ryan, a Hornets statement read: “The club wish to place on record their thanks to both players who were integral in the final run-in last season that secured Hornets’ Championship status.

“We wish them luck in the next chapter of their respective careers.”
