Turner taking Saints Cup campaign game by game

St Helens utility back Jordan Turner is focusing on winning one game at a time in the Challenge Cup this season.

The 26-year-old was rested for the weekend’s sixth round win over York City Knights, but is expecting a tough test when Saints face Widnes away in the quarter finals of the competition.

“Both times we’ve played Widnes this year, they’re really given us a game,” he said.

“I think they’re a team who are verging on doing something really good. They’re not to be taken for granted.

“We’re just glad to be in the quarter finals. We’d have been as happy at drawing anyone.

“In the Cup a win’s a win. If you turn up on the day – that’s the main thing.

“It doesn’t matter who you draw.”

Turner would like to enjoy some success in the Cup, with Saints having missed out in the competition in recent seasons.

“In the last couple of years the Challenge Cup has got away from us,” he added.

“In 2013 and 2014 we didn’t fare too well. So we’re just glad to be in the quarter finals and looking to progress.”
