Wakefield have confirmed that centre Bill Tupou has inked a new, one-year deal to stay at the club for the 2016 season.

The 25-year-old joined the Wildcats in June from Canberra Raiders, and he is delighted to be staying put in West Yorkshire.

“I’m very happy to have signed for a year here at Wakefield, it is a great time to be at the club,” he told Trinity’s official website.

“It is fascinating to be working under Brian Smith, I learned so much from him in the short space of time last season and I am looking forward to continue this learning process in 2016.”

Wildcats coach Brian Smith is hoping for more progress from the player in 2016.

Bill Tupou settled quickly into our team mid-season, largely based on his powerhouse running of the ball,” he said.

“With more time together with his teammates in preparation, we are likely to have an even bigger and stronger series of performances from Bill.”
