Castleford Tigers have appointed Richard Tunningley as the club’s new head of youth development.

Tunningley, 48, takes up the role on a full-time basis having spent the last three months in temporary charge.

He said: “I am really excited about the opportunity to take on the position of head of youth development.

“This Club has a strong record of producing Super League standard Academy players with over half of our current 25-man squad products of the Youth Development System.

“I am honoured to have been appointed as the person to maintain those standards and I look forward to the challenge of developing an even better reputation.”

Tunningley had been player performance manager since 2010 but leaves the role to become Castleford’s head of youth development.
