Trio leave Halifax

Jodie Broughton, Tommy Lee and Reece Chapman-Smith have left Halifax.

Winger Broughton, 32, will leave Fax after scoring five tries in four appearances for the club while hooker Lee, 32, departs after joining Fax early in 2020.

Full-back Chapman-Smith, 21, made 10 appearances for Halifax following his move from Leeds in 2019.

Halifax coach Simon Grix said: “Tommy would have been a great addition I am sure for the 2020 season and fit in seamlessly in his short time with us. Unfortunately, circumstances have made this decision and we wish him all the best.

“Jodie was a very tough call but, again, the circumstances meant we couldn’t get him in. He was great in a short period, showing a glimpse of what we signed him for. He is a great bloke and his experience, whether playing or in another capacity, will make him an asset to the game should he continue.”

“Reece has been a pleasure to have at the club over the last couple of years. For a few reasons, some out of his control, it has meant that game time has been limited. And for him to further develop and enjoy his rugby, he needs to be playing regularly. He goes with our best wishes.”
