Toulouse have signed prop Mitch Garbutt from Hull KR on a two-year deal from the 2021 season.

The 31-year-old Australian has made 25 appearances for the Rovers since the start of 2019 after previously playing 84 games for Leeds.

Garbutt will play out the rest of the 2020 Super League campaign with Hull KR before making the move to France.

Garbutt said: “I am very honoured to have the opportunity to join Toulouse Olympique.

“I only come with one goal – to help the club move up to the Super League.

“After talking with Sylvain (Houles, Toulouse coach), the decision was very easy to make and I can’t wait to play in blue and white in a very spectacular rugby style.”

Toulouse president Bernard Sarrazain added: “To get into the Super League we need players who have experience of big games at stake and this is the case with Mitch.

“In addition with his devastating charges, I am convinced that he will greatly please our supporters.”

Hull KR coach Tony Smith said: “We wish Mitch all the best for the future. We’re all confident that he’s going to finish out the season strong with the club.

“He’s been a fantastic servant for us and we are all extremely grateful for his contributions.”
