Toulouse sign Junior Vaivai from Hull KR

Toulouse have signed three-quarter Junior Vaivai from Hull KR with immediate effect on a deal until the end of 2020.

The 29-year-old joined the Robins in 2018, scoring 14 tries in 35 games for the Super League club.

Vaivai – who has earned eight caps for the United States – has spent time on loan at Championship side York this season.

On leaving Hull KR, Vaivai commented: “I’ve enjoyed my time at Hull KR and I’m grateful for the opportunity.

“It was one I was looking forward to for around six years and I’m very grateful to the club for giving me that.

“I’d like to thank the club for the chance to live my dream of playing professional rugby league again.

“I’d like to thank the staff that have helped me throughout my time there, the players for always having my back on and off the field and making it a pleasant environment to be in. I wish the club and players the very best for the rest of the season.

“I look forward to working with Toulouse. This is a great club filled with talented players. I look forward to coming to France to get to work with the boys.”

Olympique chairman Bernard Sarrazain added: “To have the backing of a player of Junior’s level in a position where we are poor is an opportunity we could not pass up.”
