Sylvain Houles will remain as Toulouse coach for the 2019 campaign.

The 37-year-old took over as head coach of Olympique a year after hanging up his boots from his playing career with the club.

Houles has had plenty of success in his coaching career so far. He was won two French Championships, a Coupe de France, League 1’s League Leaders’ Shield and this year he has guided them to a finish in The Qualifiers.

And the Frenchman is delighted to extend his stay in Toulouse.

He said: “I’m obviously happy to continue at the TO, to continue working with this group of players and these leaders.

“It’s hard to speak clearly of goals because I do not know yet in what division we will be next season. If we are not in the Super League, we will give everything to get there, and if we are, it will be to stay in the league.

“The motto of my mission is to build, improve, and give the tools to the players to take pleasure in the field.”

Olympique chairman Bernard Sarrazain is happy to see Houles stay.

He said: “We are very pleased to have Sylvain as coach.

“We have the same goal: to bring the club into Super League, and all the trophies won by the team since taking office shows that we are on the right track.”
