Toulouse head coach Sylvain Houles believes his side can handle the pressure of the relegation battle in Super League.

The French outfit conquered their third straight win on Saturday, defeating Leeds 20-6 at Stade Ernest Wallon

The victory, their fifth of the season, lifted them from the bottom of the Super League table above Wakefield. Although, Willie Poching’s side have the chance to bounce back as they travel to Hull KR on Sunday.

Toulouse defeated the Robins in Round 17, before a stunning comeback at Magic Weekend saw them defeat Trinity 38-26 at Newcastle’s St James’ Park.

Toulouse can handle the pressure says boss

“The last three games have been huge for us to build upon,” said Houles following their win over Leeds. “There was pressure on us to continue winning, but the boys have shown they can handle pressure and they can keep on winning.

“We need to stay humble, keep working hard and make sure we get the results next weekend.

“We have been through a massive learning curve and we probably wouldn’t be here tonight at this stage if we hadn’t been through those tough times.

“We’ve had to learn the hard way and change our team and the process has been difficult, but we have finally found a way to make it work with this new group.

“We’ve had some tough times, so we need to appreciate this moment and then move forward.

“So many things happened at the start of the season, then we worked hard at recruiting new players. I’m just glad we took our time and got the right ones.

“The boys have turned up every week and they believed in what we were doing, they believe in the club and they want to keep us in Super League.

“We can compete with anyone and that’s what we’ve done, even when we had things tough.

“The boys fight hard for each other and we will never give up.

“All we need to focus on now is Salford next week, we need to keep winning and maybe then we can celebrate.”
