Toronto Wolfpack appoint new head coach

Toronto Wolfpack have appointed Matt Wyles as their new head coach.

The Canadian club will take part in the new North American rugby league competition, which was due to start this month. It has been now been pushed back until 2022.

Brian McDermott was Toronto’s head coach during their time in Super League, but the club have confirmed the appointment of Wyles as their new head coach.

A club statement read: “Team Wolfpack are pleased and excited to announce our new head coach Matt Wyles Matt has all the attributes not only as a coach but as a person to begin taking Toronto Wolfpack forward.”

Wyles said: “It is a huge honour to be given the opportunity to coach the Toronto Wolfpack.

“I look forward to showcasing, promoting and developing domestic rugby league talent in Canada, which has been growing since 2010.  Rugby league is a fast, aggressive and strategic sport that suits Canadian athletes very well.”
