Toronto Wolfpack have been fined after Brian McDermott failed to appear for his post-match press conference at the AJ Bell Stadium on Saturday 8 February.

The club have been fined £5,000, with £4,500 suspended until the end of the 2020 season.

McDermott failed to show for the press conference after his side suffered a 24-16 defeat to Salford.

The head coach had apologised for what is said to be a genuine misunderstanding.

“My apologies to the media and the press along with the Salford and Toronto fans for missing the press conference,” McDermott said.

“It was not an intended action, but a genuine mistake. There was a bit of confusion after the game, as I waited outside my dressing room for a long while, waiting to be called in for the media. I assumed they didn’t want to talk to me as the losing coach for today’s match. I’d obviously got it wrong, and that was my error.”
