Top six back-rowers in 2020 Super League season

We have taken a look at six of the best back-rowers in the 2020 Super League season.

Liam Farrell (Wigan Warriors)

The 30-year-old is Mr Reliable for Wigan, and played a key role in helping the Warriors reach the Grand Final. Farrell scored 11 tries in 21 games this term, and will be looking for another big year in 2021 as he hopes to make Shaun Wane’s England squad for the World Cup.

Kelepi Tanginoa (Wakefield Trinity)

Tanginoa has proved to be a wonderful signing for Wakefield. The 26-year-old scored six tries in 21 games in 2020 and was named in the Super League Dream Team alongside Farrell in the back-row.

Michael Lawrence (Huddersfield Giants)

Lawrence is a fan’s favourite at the John Smith’s Stadium. The 30-year-old had a fantastic campaign as he finished as Super League’s top tackler with 749 to his name. He is set to represent Jamaica at the 2021 World Cup.

James Bentley (St Helens)

The Ireland international enjoyed a real breakthrough season for Saints. Bentley made 19 appearances in 2020 and cemented his position as a regular back-rower for Kristian Woolf’s side. His impressive performances this year have seen him be rewarded with the number 12 shirt for 2021.

Rhyse Martin (Leeds Rhinos)

The Papua New Guinea international has been a very good addition for the Rhinos. Martin kicked scored four tries and kicked 51 goals in 15 games in 2020. The 27-year-old also made 151 carries and 357 tackles.

Pauli Pauli (Salford Red Devils)

The 26-year-old enjoyed a stellar season with the Red Devils, making 21 appearances as he helped the club reach the Challenge Cup final at Wembley. Pauli had 58 tackle busts to his name and also made 12 offloads.
