Tony Tonks said farewell to Featherstone in the perfect fashion with Championship glory yesterday, after it was confirmed he would move to Super League side Huddersfield.

Tonks, 26, has been a key figure in Featherstone’s domination of the Championship in the past two seasons, and was in the team that battered Sheffield 40-4 in the Grand Final at Warrington.

He said: “I’ve got the chance to prove I’m now ready to play at Super League level, which is something I’m looking forward to doing.

“That’s a challenge that excites me and I believe that the Giants are the perfect club to help to bring the best out of me.”

Tonks, who has signed a 12-month deal with the Giants, started his career at the Wakefield academy and has also played for Doncaster and Oldham.
