Tonks gets Giant chance

Prop Tony Tonks has been named in Huddersfield’s 19-man squad for the first time this season, as they travel to Hull KR on Sunday.

Tonks, 26, signed for the Giants from Featherstone in the close season, shortly after winning the Championship Grand Final.

He was sent off in that match, and as such was ruled out of the opening rounds of the season, and has since struggled to break in to the first team picture.

Tonks is a product of Wakefield’s academy, and spent a couple of seasons at Bradford before cutting his teeth in the lower leagues with Oldham and then Featherstone.

David Fa’alogo, who returned from injury in last weekend’s victory over Castleford, retains his place in the squad for Nathan Brown’s table-toppers.

Huddersfield 19-man squad v Hull KR: Grix, Lawrence, Cudjoe, Gilmour, McGillvary, Brown, Brough, Crabtree, Robinson, Fa’alogo, Faiumu, Lunt, Patrick, Wardle, Chan, Lee, George, Tonks, Eden.
