Sam Tomkins says Wigan made Hull FC look like “world beaters” and the Warriors must improve.
The fullback made his long awaited return from injury last night as the Black Whites finished 16-30 winners.
“It was very disappointing, I thought we gave a bad showing of ourselves tonight,” he admitted.
“We lost the game in our defence, we were very scrappy. Hull are a good team but we made them look like world beaters at time and we need to be better than that next week.”
Tomkins made a try-scoring return to the DW Stadium but was on the wrong end of the scoreline.
“There’s no better place to score as a Wigan lad in front of the crowd here but a try doesn’t mean too much when you get beat like that,” he said.
Tomkins played just over 40 minutes as he eased himself back into Super League.
“I feel good, it was my lungs that were sore, not my knee,” he admitted.
“The knee came through fine which is all I could hope for really. It was just a dead leg and nothing to do with my knee.
“The physio came on and asked, it would have been the same had been my other leg.”
