Wigan full-back Sam Tomkins notched a hat-trick as he celebrated his 100th appearance for the Warriors in their 46-4 win at Castleford.

Tomkins, 22, has now scored 78 tries for the Warriors, ever since bagging five in his first team debut against Whitehaven in the Challenge Cup back in 2008.

Last season, he scored 28 tries in 28 Super League games, and he has tasted victory 75 times in his century of games for the club so far.

Wigan coach Shaun Wane told the club’s official website: “We made a big thing of Sam’s 100th appearance. We had a presentation and gave him a special jersey for him to keep.

“It was a great day for him and I made a big thing of that. He’s local kid and I made sure all the players were aware we needed to make it a perfect day for him with a convincing win and we did that.

“A lot of it is natural with Sam and he wants to win at everything, even when we play a game of Aussie touch in training. He’s a great kid to have with us.”
