Tomkins sounds out clubs over NRL move – Reports

Wigan full-back Sam Tomkins has made contact with clubs in the NRL over a possible switch Down Under for next season, according to The Australian newspaper.

Tomkins, 23, is the reigning Super League Man of Steel and has also been linked with a lucrative switch to rugby union – his brother Joel joined Saracens at the end of 2011.

The Australian claims that representatives acting for Tomkins have been sounding out clubs, including Sydney Roosters.

He would join fellow England internationals James Graham, Gareth Widdop and Sam Burgess if he makes the move.

Tomkins signed a five-year deal with Wigan back in 2011, which included a clause that stated he could not speak to either rugby union or NRL clubs for three years.

The academy product, who scored five tries on his Warriors debut against Whitehaven in 2008, has scored 110 tries in 126 appearances for the club.
