Wakefield boss Chris Chester says he will have three extra players returning to the side for Wednesday’s clash with Castleford, including winger Tom Johnstone.

Johnstone, 25, is set to make his return to the game after a two-month concussion absence.

He has not featured for the side since suffering a head knock in Trinity’s Challenge Cup defeat by Catalans in early April, and was later sent to a neurosurgeon after he suffered a setback in his recovery.

Chester also confirmed that Matty Ashurst and Kelepi Tanginoa will return to the side ahead of their midweek derby meeting with the Tigers.

He said: “(We’ve had) a bit of a review and preview the day after the game and we’ve literally just had the team run today, so it’s another short turnaround.

“We’ve been fortunate enough that we’ve got some fresh bodies to come in this week. Matty Ashurst on the back of a two game suspension, Kelipi Tanginoa and Tom Johnstone.

“We’re really fortunate in that respect that we’ve got a little bit of freshness to come into the squad.”
