Castleford have handed 19-year-old youngster Tom Holmes a one-year contract extension.

The former Lock Lane amateur will now stay at the club until at least the end of the 2016 season.

“I am absolutely over the moon, it’s a big weight off my shoulders knowing I’ll be here next year and I really can’t wait,” said the young pivot.

“Signing here was a no brainer for me really, I love the players, the staff, the fans and this club. It’s a special place to be, it’s my home town club and it’s where I want to be.”

Tigers head coach Daryl Powell is pleased that such a talented youngster has committed his future to the club.

“Tom is developing all the time as a young halfback and hooker,” he said.

“He made his debut this year coming off the bench against Catalan and his temperament and ability to take the line on, as well as his toughness as a defender, mark him down as a player who could make an impact in Super League in the future.”
