Today’s Super League round-up

test

Huddersfield bounced back from their Challenge Cup exit, with six first-half tries helping them go above Wigan to the top of the Super League table.

The Giants were 36-4 up at half-time but Castleford showed great character to score five tries in the second-half as they launched an unlikely comeback, Huddersfield though saw the game out with a 48-32 final score.

Half-back Danny Brough was again in excellent form and he kicked eight out of eight conversions, alongside scoring a try of his own.

The other Giants scorers were Joe Wardle, Ben Blackmore (2), Aaron Murphy (2), Leroy Cudjoe and Kyle Wood.

Michael Shenton, Justin Carney, Daryl Clark, Rangi Chase, Weller Hauraki and Richard Owen crossed for the Tigers, who remain 12th in the table.

Warrington made it eight consecutive wins in all competitions with a hard fought 34-6 victory over Hull KR.

The match was delicately balanced after 40 minutes with the Wolves leading 12-6, but Tony Smith’s men managed to go up a gear and produce a couple of flowing tries in the second-half.

Brett Hodgson, Mike Cooper, Ben Currie (2), Chris Riley and Michael Monaghan were the home side’s try-scorers as they stay 3rd, while 6th-placed Rovers’ only try came through Jordan Cox.
