Tigers to wait on Tuaki

Wests Tigers bosses say they will wait to hear the long term prognosis on Taniela Tuaki’s ankle injury before making a decision on his future.

Tuiaki has been sidelined since suffering a broken ankle against Parramatta at the Sydney Football Stadium in round 21 last year.

Under the guidance of Wests Tigers Club Doctor Donald Kuah, Taniela has undertaken two surgical procedures, intensive physio, aerobic fitness work, weight bearing activity, and running.

But Tigers CEO Stephen Humphreys says that Tuaki’s recovery from the injury is far from complete.

“We need to remember the injury suffered by Taniela was very significant and put his playing career at real risk,’’ said Humphreys.

“Whilst his rehab program has been arduous, Taniela has been very dedicated and disciplined.

“He has resumed straight line running at near full pace. The next step for Taniela is to test himself with more lateral movement and running.

“Taniela has been working extremely hard on his rehab and the most recent report on his progress has been quite encouraging.

Wests Tigers will continue to do all possible to support him in his efforts to make a full recovery.”
