Castleford Tigers have completed the signing of Crusaders wingman or full back Nick Youngquest on a two year contract.

Youngquest, 27, has been a regular for the Welsh outfit in Engage Super League this season, having made 26 appearances with 9 tries to his name.

Nick joins full back Richie Mathers (Warrington) and half-back Danny Orr (Harlequins) in the list of players joining the Tigers in 2011.

Head coach Terry Matterson said of Nick’s signing:

“Nick is a real flyer and he brings a lot of pace to the team. He’s also a good finisher as well.

“We’re really pleased to have signed him as we see him as one of the best wingers in the League.

“You only have to look at his stats. He’s in the top five meter makers in Super League this year and we’re delighted to have captured him.”

Australian Nick had experience in the NRL with Cronulla Sharks, St George, Penrith Panthers and Canterbury Bulldogs before a brief spell in French Rugby League with Pia.

He then moved to the UK in 2009 and impressed with Gateshead Thunder in the Co-operative Championship where he caught the eye of his current boss, Brian Noble. Nick joined Noble at Crusaders ahead of the current campaign.

On signing for the Tigers, Nick said: “The Tigers are a club with a lot of history and I guess there will be more expectations of me than when I came to Crusaders. I’m ready for that and looking forward to a new challenge.

“I started out here (Crusaders) at full back but have played most of the year on the wing which is where I’m expecting to figure and where I feel more at home.

“As a winger I enjoy scoring tries but I like to do the hard work as well which is so important. I feel that the forwards appreciate my help in taking the ball forward.”

Before arriving at The Jungle, Nick will take part in the play-offs with Crusaders and is set to face Huddersfield on Saturday as he and the Wrexham-based club aim for Grand Final Glory.
