Tigers looking to get back to winning ways

Castleford Tigers will be looking to get back to winning ways in the Betfred Super League this weekend when they take on Salford Red Devils in the second round of the Super 8s (Castleford 11/8 to win the Grand Final).

The Tigers were expected to cruise to the League Leaders’ Shield this month but they were humbled when beaten by St Helens last weekend.

Castleford had gone unbeaten for a year at home but went down 12-26 to Justin Holbrook’s men.

Daryl Powell’s side had won their previous five matches and they will be confident of beating Salford away from home on Friday night (Match Betting – Salford 11/4, draw 25/1, Castleford 2/7).

Friday’s clash comes just 24 hours after Wakefield Trinity host Leeds Rhinos at home at the Beaumont Legal Stadium. Chris Chester’s team have lost their last two matches against St Helens and Huddersfield and that form has seen them drop down to sixth in the table.

Leeds head into the game on the back of a win over Wigan Warriors and another victory could see them cut the gap on Cas, as long as results go their way.

The second game on Friday sees Saints host Hull FC, with Lee Radford’s men in fine form. Both teams have upped their games in recent weeks and it could well be the game of the weekend as third take on fourth (Match Betting – St Helens 4/7, draw 20/1, Hull 6/4).

Wigan’s chances of qualifying for the top four lie in the balance and they will need to overcome Huddersfield at the DW Stadium.

Coach Shaun Wane has only made one change to his squad, with Sam Powell back from suspension to replace Josh Ganson.

The Giants have improved in recent months, winning eight of their last 13 and should provide a firm test on Friday (Match Betting – Wigan 2/7, Draw 25/1, Huddersfield 11/4).
