Castleford Tigers and Wakefield Wildcats may be given land by Wakefield Council to aid their stadium developments, according to the Wakefield Express.

A meeting by the council’s cabinet on Tuesday 14th July will discuss the viability of providing council owned land to the two clubs, in a bid to raise finance for the stadiums.

The report states that clubs will not be able to sell the land, but will be able to use it as an asset to borrow money.

The article says that Councillor Denise Jeffery said the moves were being discussed urgently so clubs could meet Rugby Football League deadlines for Super League franchise criteria.
