Tiger Lupton Signs New Deal

Castleford Tigers half back/loose forward Peter Lupton has given the club a boost by agreeing a new deal with the club for the 2007 National League campaign.

Lupton joined the Tigers mid way through the past season on a loan deal from Hull and then signed a longer Super League deal. Although he had a option to move following on from the Tigers relegation, the club were keen to keep him on board and very pleased that he has chosen to reject opportunities to stay in Super League and commit to the Tigers.

A Cumbrian product, 26-year-old Peter has previously played for Leeds and London before joining Hull.

Coach Terry Matterson said: "It's good that Peter has agreed to stay with us adding to Andrew Henderson's re-signing earlier this week. "It is important that we recruit as many Super League standard players as possible for next year and Peter fits the bill. He did a great job for us in Super League last year, and even though at times he was playing through injuries he went well at that level."

Peter said: "Terry Matterson's agreeing to stay with the Tigers was a big factor in my deciding to commit to the club. I did have options to stay in Super League but I have been very happy at the Tigers and although we have had a set back, I'm sure that the club has a very bright future which I want to be part of."
