Three players charged after Super League’s opening weekend

The RFL Match Review Panel has charged three players following incidents which occurred in games over Super League‘s opening weekend of fixtures.

Patrick Ah Van of Widnes Vikings has been charged with making a Grade B reckless high tackle on Wigan Warriors winger Josh Charnley in the fixture played last Thursday.

Matty Smith of Wigan Warriors has been charged with Grade B kicking in the 77th minute of the same fixture.

Weller Hauraki of Salford Red Devils has been charged with making Grade B dangerous contact on Ben Currie in the match against Warrington Wolves on Saturday.

Ah Van and Smith have until 11am on Tuesday February 10 to submit Early Guilty Pleas (EGP).

Hauraki does not have the option of submitting an EGP. The Kiwi back rower will face an independent disciplinary tribunal on Tuesday February 10.

The Match Review Panel also issued a formal caution to Joel Tomkins of Wigan Warriors for contrary behaviour in the 77th minute of the match against Widnes..
