Three in, One out at Skolars

London Skolars are delighted to announce that three more key players from their 2012 squad have put pen to paper on new contracts for the 2013 season.

James Anthony will start his third season with the club, having joined from London Broncos in 2011. James had an outstanding season at full back in 2012, making 21 appearances and scoring 9 tries.

Andy McLean joined the club at the beginning of the 2012 season, having previously played all of his Rugby League in his native Australia. Despite suffering an injury early on in the season Andy recovered to make 18 starts and the stand-off contributed 9 tries in an impressive debut season.

Smokie Junor completes the trio of re-signings. The quick winger has risen through the ranks at Skolars and, although first team opportunities were limited in 2012, when Smokie was called upon he delivered in style, making 8 starts and contributing 6 tries, including a hat-trick away at Gateshead.

Commenting on the signings Skolars Head Coach Joe Mbu said: “Following the signings of Dave Williams, Rob Thomas and Dylan Skee I’m delighted that James, Andy and Smokie have committed to the club for next season. All three made outstanding contributions last season and are all very much part of what we are trying to build here at Skolars”.

Meanwhile, Neil Thorman has moved to Whitehaven on a one year deal.

The 28 year old said: “I’m Very pleased that I have signed with Whitehaven. I am excited for a new challenge and looking forward to training with the boys in November. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Skolars. I wish them all the success in the future, and I am sure that London Rugby League will go from strength to strength.”
