Sheffield Eagles have added to their front row options, with the signing of Steve Thorpe from the Eastern Suburbs Tigers.

The 24-year-old prop forward has played over 100 Queensland Cup games.

“I am really happy to have signed with the Sheffield Eagles,” said the player.

“The club has a very successful history and culture, and a great sense of camaraderie which I am greatly looking forward to becoming a part of.

“I’ve always had my sights on playing Rugby League overseas and it is not only a privilege but an honour to have this opportunity to play in the Championship League representing the Eagles.

“I am looking forward to getting over to the UK and starting my journey.”

Eagles head coach Mark Aston added: “Steve will be a quality addition to the squad. He is renowned for his leadership skills both on and off the field and will be a major asset to the senior group.

“He has a strong work ethic and is often present for 70 minutes a game which is way above average for a front row forward.”
