Thornley ready to thrive on competition at Hull KR

Hull KR centre Iain Thornley believes that the Robins will be a better side because of the competition for places in the first team in 2016.

Thornley is facing off against three other centres to nail down a starting spot in Chris Chester’s side, with the established Liam Slater being joined by new boys Ryan Shaw and Thomas Minns.

“The centre competition is exactly what we all need and I can totally see why Chris has gone out and recruited a lot in that position,” Thornley told the Hull Daily Mail.

“There’s four of us now and we’ll all be vying for those two spots. Two of us will be disappointed each week but that will only make us more hungry to get into the team.

“Perhaps where KR were under-strength last season, they’ve made sure we have strength in that department next year.

“Hopefully we can all work together to get the best out of each other.”
