Thompson motivated by cup final snub

Hull forward Jordan Thompson is determined to play his way in to their Challenge Cup final team.

Thompson, 25, is preparing to make his 100th appearance for the Airlie Birds at St Helens this Friday.

But with Wembley just a few weeks away, the former Castleford is determined to put in a good performance.

He told the club’s official website: “It’s a massive feeling to reach my 100th appearance for the club, but there’s a lot at stake on Friday night and I can’t afford to be distracted.

“I remember in the build-up to last year’s Cup final I lost form and that cost me a place in the squad, which was really painful, but I was also over the moon for the lads.

“I’ll be out to put some wrongs right this year and that’s why I won’t be getting carried away on Friday because I need to concentrate on my performance.”

Thompson has sat out Hull’s last two matches, including the semi-final victory over Leeds.

Winger Fetuli Talanoa is also making his 100th club appearance this weekend.
