Thomas Leuluai will play for Wigan before the end of the season despite breaking his leg for the Exiles against England.

Leuluai broke his outer leg bone, but is expected to be back in the cherry and white shirt within 10 weeks according to coach Shaun Wane.

Wane said the scrum half would not need to go under the surgeon’s knife.

He said: “It is a huge blow for us, but to be honest I was relieved because it could have been a lot worse. If he had needed an operation he could have been facing a much longer time out.

“He will definitely play again this year. If we get to Wembley, he could be back then.”

There had been fears Leuluai’s career at Wigan would be prematurely over after he was stretchered off at Langtree Park on Saturday. Leuluai will play for New Zealand Warriors in the NRL for three years starting in 2013.
