Thomas Leuluai could make his long awaited return from injury during Wigan’s trip to Hull KR on Sunday.

Leuluai was injured playing for the Exiles against England, and head coach Shaun Wane said his availability is a real boost for the side who aim to clinch the League Leaders Shield with a win over Rovers.

Wane said: “Tommy has a chance of playing this weekend and we will assess him tomorrow. I had always looked at the Hull KR game for him, it is not 100% he will play but if we can have him play for half an hour then great.

“He is a great player and a great asset. Before he got injured we were playing some great rugby and to have him back before the play offs is a bonus.”

Wane also confirmed prop forward Stuart Fielden would also be available for selection. The 32-year old has not played Super League rugby since round two last season.

Wane said: “Stuart Fielden is again available for selection. I have more or less a fully fit squad. Ben Flower is fit again but Paul Prescott is out for the season, he had an operation on his knee last week.”

Wane had previously expressed doubts over whether Fielden would play for the Warriors in the business end of the season, and insists he is focused on winning the League Leaders Shield.

He said: “The League Leaders Shield is important to us and this is one game we really want to get over the line and get the two points.

“Being the most consistent team over the year is really important to me, our points difference record is fantastic and if we perform how we have trained this week we will be Ok for Sunday.”
