Thomas already eyeing Summer Bash

Bradford star Oscar Thomas says the Bulls can’t wait to take part in the Summer Bash at Bloomfield Road, Blackpool, at the end of May.

Last year’s event hosted one of the most exciting games of the 2016 season, as the Bulls battled with Leigh Centurions before losing out in the final minute.

“From the start of the year you tend to pencil this event in as one of the biggest of the season – the atmosphere and the event is brilliant, it’s something for everyone to look forward to,” Thomas told the club’s official website.

“I’ve had my eye on it since the start of the season, a lot of the boys have.

“Because we’re playing against Hull KR there’s going to be two huge crowds as both sides have great following support. I’m looking forward to it and hopefully we can get the result for our people.

“Last year I was fortunate enough experience it against Leigh. I know that our crowd packed out the away end and Leigh did their part. We are expecting Hull KR to do the same, but hopefully Bradford can fill the stands this year.

“The boys need the fans support more than anything this year. Unless you are a player then you can’t explain the feeling when those fans get behind you, they give you that extra push.”

The two teams met at the start of the season with Rovers running out 54-24 winners, but Thomas believes the Bulls have improved since then.

“The first week of the season we weren’t up to scratch if we look at it honestly,” he added.

“We let in too many easy tries, but this time I know I will be much different. We’ve got higher confidence and we have grown more as a team – we have learnt a lot, it’ll be a much closer result this time around.

“It is a different situation that we are in, but it happens to every team where players come and go. I think that we are building confidence as a team.

“I think that we have a bunch of boys that have been through a lot of hardship, that doesn’t put us down, it builds us up. We are much stronger team now.

“We have come out of the back end of it, much more positive and we are beginning to get the results. We are gaining momentum in the league and hopefully we can get the result in Blackpool, we are feeling much more positive.”
