Widnes have made a third dual-registration signing from Wigan with the capture of half-back Joe Mellor.
Mellor has spent time on loan at Harlequins this season and joins prop Dom Crosby and hooker Logan Tomkins in the Vikings squad.
Warriors’ Rugby Manager Kris Radlinski said: “Joe will link up with Dom and Logan who are already on a Dual Registration with Widnes. Every party benefits out of the arrangement with the players getting tougher rugby which is good for them, the Wigan Club and Widnes who are getting quality youngsters with an abundance of enthusiasm.”
Mellor will spend the early part of the week training with Wigan before doing ball work at Widnes towards the end of the week.
Vikings’ Director of Rugby Paul Cullen added; “Joe is another outstanding Wigan Academy player who will benefit from playing senior rugby on a dual registration contract. He is a highly rated stand off with great potential and we are delighted that he has joined us.”
