The Last Tackle National Challenge

South London Storm have been asked to participate in the LastTackle.com National Challenge match to be played on the 5th May.

The match will be between the South London Storm ‘A’ team and the South Humber Rabbitohs who won the Northern equivalent of the London Amateur Rugby League title won by South London Storm ‘A’ last year.

With the first team able to take their Southern crown onwards to a national play offs the route was not able to be taken by the ‘A’ team as no national play offs existed. Thanks to work from Lasttackle.com and the committees of both the Storm and especially the Rabbitohs the game will now go ahead at Storm park on Saturday 5th May.

“There was a gap in the fixtures and it seemed like an opportunity we could not and should not miss.” Commented Storm Chairman Paul Brown. “The guys put a lot of effort and hard work into the title last year and to be given a chance to pit yourselves against the best from the North was a chance we could not pass up. It will be great also to begin what will hopefully be a successful partnership with both the Rabbitohs and Lasttackle.com.”

Lasttackle.com will be sponsoring the game as their first sponsorship event in London but are very keen to make the event a real success and with a trophy on offer at the end they hope it will also become an annual event.

“Last Tackle is a dedicated Rugby League news website which covers Super League, the NRL, National Leagues and the development of the game at amateur and international levels. It is run on an entirely non-profit basis, and aims to become the number one Rugby League website in the UK.

”We are continually looking to raise awareness of the site, and we feel that sponsoring the Storm-Rabbitohs match as the LastTackle.com Challenge will provide just the publicity we need.” Commented spokesman James Gordon.

With pre season already underway and huge turnouts from the Juniors and the Seniors Storm will be hoping to take last seasons performances and spirit onwards to this season.

The main season kicks off on 14th April against West London for the first team and the week after will see the first match for both sides as the first team take on St Albans and the 'A' side take on the newly promoted London Griffins.
