Hull KR halfback Terry Campese will be on the sidelines for the next month with a hamstring injury.

Campese only made his long-awaited return to the field on Sunday against Huddersfield, after nine months out.

But the Australian suffered a minor hamstring tear in the second half of Hull KR’s loss and is expected to miss the next four weeks.

Campese will be out for at least this weekend’s game against Salford Red Devils and the Good Friday derby against Hull FC, along with clashes against last year’s Grand Finalists Wigan Warriors and Leeds Rhinos over the Easter period.

Interim head coach James Webster said: “It’s unfortunate news for Terry and the club but the upside is that it’s nothing to do with his knee injury and he’s facing a much shorter timeframe off the field.

“Terry is the ultimate professional and he’ll be doing everything he can to get back out there as quickly as possible but we’ll definitely be without him over the Easter period and maybe one or two matches after that as well.

“The injury situation we are facing at the moment is almost unheard of but we can’t afford to focus on the negatives. We need to concentrate on the players we do have available and find a way of getting the best out of them over the coming weeks, starting on Sunday.”
