Taylor joins Canberra

Canberra have offered Dave Taylor a lifeline, with the former Catalans forward to train with the NRL club.

Taylor will trial with the Raiders in pre-season in a bid to win a contract. The agreement will run from the beginning of the pre-season and will be reviewed at the end of December.

Canberra said in a statement: “If the club is satisfied with his progress he will be given the opportunity to continue his next short-term goal of continuing pre-season training and the opportunity to play two trial games.”

If Taylor impresses than the Raiders will consider him for a deal for next season.

Canberra aoach Ricky Stuart said: “If David achieves his goals and is then offered a small playing fee for 2017 he has made better choices for himself, his family and his football.

“It has shown he has bought in and committed to turning himself around.

“The Raiders have the resources in turning David into a regular NRL player, but it’s up to David to show if he wants it bad enough.”
