Taylor apologises for gesture

Dave Taylor has issued an apology after being caught making a one-fingered gesture in the dying moments of yesterday’s Origin match.

Taylor was pictured on camera in the Suncorp Stadium crowd making the gesture after a New South Wales field goal attempt to level the match fell short.

Queensland won a dramatic match 21-20 extending their winning streak over the Blues for a seventh year.

“I apologise for my actions at last night’s game. I did not mean to offend anybody,” Taylor said.

“It was a spur of the moment thing and I didn’t mean it. It wasn’t directed at anyone in particular.

“Again I apologise for my actions and any offence it may have caused to my team mates and coaches, the QRL, the Rabbitohs and supporters of Rugby League.”

Taylor was dropped from the squad after a poor showing in game 2 in Sydney last month.
