Parramatta have taken immediate action against winger Taulima Tautai after it emerged that he was arrested for drink driving around two weeks ago.
Eels bosses fined the 21-year-old $5,000, suspended him for two matches, and told him to undertake a driver awareness course.
Police reportedly pulled over Tautai on June 11 where he blew a positive breath test.
Parramatta Acting Chief Executive Andrew Hill told AAP in a statement:
“We had a positive meeting with Taulima and his management and whist he is very apologetic and disappointed in his actions we have to send a clear message in cases like this.”
“The club hopes that this issue will serve as a reminder of the standards and responsibilities that our players need to maintain.”
