Canterbury have ‘excused’ forward Ryan Tandy from all club duties, after he was arrested and charged by police.

Tandy has been released on bail by NSW police and will appear in court on March 2 charged with providing false evidence to a law enforcement agency during an investigation.

The decision to stand down the 29-year-old former Melbourne player was made following a meeting of the Bulldogs’ Board and Disciplinary Committee.

A club statement read: “The Club makes no comment about the charges laid against Mr. Tandy or their merits. These are matters before the Court and Mr. Tandy is entitled to answer those charges in due course.

“The Club has informed Mr. Tandy that it reserves its rights concerning his contract as the situation develops and more information becomes known.

The Bulldogs alos say they will consider any request by Tandy for ‘support services’.

The statement added: “As these are matters before the Court, the Club will be making no further comment at this time.”
