South Sydney demolished their traditional rivals Sydney Roosters 52-12 in a performance that outlined a steely new determination about the Rabbitohs.

Chris Sandow and the rest of the South Sydney youngsters made an indelible mark on the game with Nathan Merrit weighing in with a hat-trick to go with scores from Colin Best, Rhys Wesser, Eddy Pettybourne, Sandow and a brace from Fetuli Talanoa.

The Roosters could only muster scores from Braith Anasta and Jake Friend in reply in a performance that will cause huge concern for coach Brad Fittler.
