Swinton taking nothing for granted

Steve McCormack will be taking nothing for granted when table-topping Swinton travel to bottom club Gateshead in Championship One on Sunday.

And the Lions coach has cited Rochdale’s defeat in London last week as a prime example of how the form book doesn’t always go according to plan.

Swinton are unbeaten and four points clear of nearest rivals Keighley while Gateshead – who parted company with coaches Richard Pell and Tim Rumford last month – are still looking for their first victory.

“I doesn’t matter who we play, we prepare exactly the same way,” said McCormack.

“Look at the result between Rochdale and London last week.

“London hadn’t won a game and Rochdale are having a pretty good season and they got turned over.

“So if you don’t prepare well and think you are going to be in for an easy week you are asking for trouble.

“We never approach games like that and we never will do. We’ll prepare as well as we possibly can and that will stand us in good stead.

“The lads will play as well as they possibly can and it makes no difference whether we are playing Warrington, Oldham or whoever.”
