Swinton have signed Billy Brickhill from rivals Rochdale for the 2019 season.

The 21-year-old, who can cover in the halves, hooker and loose forward, joins from Championship rivals Rochdale Hornets on a one-year deal.

Brickhill picked up Rochdale’s Young Player of the Year Award at the end of the 2018 season.

The Cadishead Rhinos youngster has previously spent time with Gloucestershire All Golds and North Wales Crusaders.

“I’m really looking forward to starting pre season with Stuart [Littler] and the team,” said Brickhill.

“I will be looking to hit the ground running building on from a good 2018 season.

“Having spent some time with Stuart and discussing his plans for 2019 it felt right to sign for Swinton.”

”I’m absolutely made up to be able to announce the signing of last year’s Rochdale Young Player of the Year, Billy Brickhill,” Littler commented.

“He is a player who has been on our radar for a while after making steady progress over the past couple of seasons.

“Last year saw Billy step up to the Championship and adequately cover in numerous positions throughout the season. After meeting with Billy and his dad I am 100% certain he is a good fit for our club.

”Billy is another young professional who is keen to develop and learn and really seems to buy into the culture I would like to create. Billy sets himself high standards and I am looking forward to what he will bring to our team.”
