Swinton sign Leigh forward

Swinton have signed forward Mitch Cox on a one-year contract from Leigh.

The 25-year-old joined the Centurions towards the end of the 2018 season and made 19 appearances for the club.

Cox is a back-rower by trade but can also play in the centres.

Swinton coach Stuart Littler said: “I am made up to be able to announce the signing of another quality youngster in Mitch Cox.

“Both myself and Allan have worked with Mitch previously and he will bring a good work ethic to our growing squad.

“Mitch again maps into our recruitment strategy of working to bring in young players that we can mould into an exciting team.

“Whenever Mitch played for Leigh last year he was quality and I know he will have worked under some good systems under [Leigh coach] John Duffy.”

Cox added: “I’m buzzing to have signed for Swinton. When the opportunity came around it was a no-brainer.

“A few of my close mates and lads who I’ve played with before who already play at the club couldn’t speak more highly about the club and the people involved.”
