Swinton sign Higson from Leigh

Steve McCormack has moved to sign Leigh centre Adam Higson as Swinton look to further strengthen their squad ahead of the 2012 Championship campaign.

Higson has spent the last four years with the Centurions and made 20 appearances in 2011, crossing the whitewash on four occasions.

Commenting on the signing, McCormack said “Adam has been at Leigh for a number of years and is an outstanding player.

“He’s had a spell in the back row but I certainly see him as a centre. He’s a proven Championship player. He’s a big unit, well put together, and will add a real physical presence to our side.”

The capture of Higson follows the signing of centre Tom Armstrong from St Helens and underlines Swinton’s commitment to build a competitive side following their promotion to the Championship.

McCormack added: “We identified we needed to strengthen our back line and he’s another great signing.”
