Swinton have signed Germany half-back Brad Billsborough with immediate effect.

Billsborough was released by League 1 club Whitehaven last week due to travelling difficulties, and the Lions have acted swiftly to secure his services.

The 19-year-old, who plays for Germany through his mother being born in Berlin, had been a key player for Haven this year and joins Swinton with a promising reputation after previously being in St Helens’ academy.

On the move, Billsborough said: “I’m made up to be signing for Swinton, and I’m really looking forward to the challenge.

“I can’t wait to play in front of the Lions’ fans and get stuck in, and work with Stuart (Littler) and the rest of the team.”

Lions head coach, Stuart Littler, added: “Brad is a player with lots of potential who has been a stand out performer within the St Helens youth structure.

“Brad has continued his form and development into the senior game and is a player I cannot wait to start work with.

“From initial discussions, it’s clear that Brad fully buys in to how we want to play the game and I am sure we will see a lot from him during the remainder of the season.

“He is hungry and knows what dedication and sacrifices are required to become a standout professional athlete.”
