Swinton make double deadline day signings

Swinton signed Samy Kibula and Deane Meadows on transfer deadline day.

Utility-forward Kibula, 20, has extended his loan at Swinton from parent club Wigan until the end of the 2019 season. He has already played eight games for the Lions this year.

Kibula said: “I’m looking forward to another month with Swinton.

“We are on a good run and hopefully we can finish the season strong.”

Centre or half-back Meadows, 25, signs a professional contract with the Lions after impressing on trial. The Shevington Sharks amateur recently returned from Jamaica where he featured for the North West English Lionhearts as the as the team went unbeaten on their four-match tour.

Swinton coach Stuart Littler commented: “Deane has been training with us for a couple of weeks and comes highly regarded from the local amateur game.

“We have had some real finds this season from the amateur ranks and I genuinely believe there are a lot more out there who could step up provided they get the opportunity and development time.”
