Swinton Lions have confirmed a 26-man squad ahead of their return to the Championship in 2023, with new signing Kenny Baker set to wear number 10.

Baker, 30, made the off-season switch to Heywood Road from Widnes, where he made 49 appearances. The forward signed his first professional contract with North Wales Crusaders before joining the Vikings in 2020.

Joining him from the DCBL Stadium is centre Jake Spedding, who has joined for the 2023 campaign. He has received shirt number three.

Wales forward Gavin Bennion returns to the club after a two-year stint with Rochdale in League 1. He will wear shirt number eight in 2023 and joins international team-mates Mike Butt (2) and Rhodri Lloyd (11) at Swinton in 2023. Half-back Ollie Olds also joined the club earlier in December following his impressive World Cup campaign.

Richard Lepori, who represented Italy at the 2021 World Cup, re-signed with the club during the off-season and will don jersey number five.

Former St Helens youngster Josh Eaves will wear shirt number 14 following his move from Newcastle Thunder.

Allan Coleman’s side will feature a new half-back partnership in 2023 following the departures of Jack Hansen and Lewis Else. In 2023, former Wigan youngster Nick Gregson will play alongside Jordan Gibson, who joined the club from North Wales Crusaders.
