Swinton hooker Joseph banned

Swinton hooker Phil Joseph will miss his side’s clash against Widnes on Sunday after he was handed a two match ban by the RFL.

Joseph, 25, was found guilty of a reckless high tackle in the Lions’ Northern Rail Cup victory over Doncaster on February 7. He was also fined £50.

Joseph denied the tackle was reckless but admitted the challenge was careless, a view not shared by the RFL Disciplinary Committee who felt the tackle had the potential for serious injury.

Joseph sat out as Swinton won 19-18 at Workington last night, thanks to Graham Holroyd‘s late drop goal.
